Pop Levi - Never Never Love

Sunday, May 11, 2008

Never Never Love is somewhere beween dance and indie rock music. Pop Levi's voice recalls Michael Jackson. After avarage debut The Return to Form Black Magick Party, he's back with poper Never Never Love. I considered to make this best new music. however, his vocals almost recall many different pop names: Backstreet Boys, Justin Timberlake, Jackson, Marc Bolan, George Michael. Pop Levi seriously started to give attantion to r&b. "Never Never Love" doesn't disappoint in the end.

Spiritualized - Songs In A & E

Saturday, May 10, 2008

1990 formed England based rock band Spiritualized seemed very disorganized to me on this new album. Spiritualized add eighth studio album to the discography. This time, their unlimited and space-influenced sound continues with Songs In A&E, and it's their first record since 2003's Amazing Grace. I keep this short, and recommend you to buy other amazing record from the year. Such as:
Portishead - Third
Because, this album is by no means good. Or, listen to this, the decision is yours.

Spiritualized - Sweet Talk

Coming music hits
Jennifer Hudson - All Dressed Up In Love Lyrics
Girlicious - Stupid Shit Lyrics
Lil' Wayne - Milli Lyrics
Oasis - I Wanna Live A Dream Lyrics
Hot Chip - Over And Over Lyrics
Snoop Dogg - One Life To Live Lyrics

Death Cab for Cutie - Narrow Stairs

Wednesday, May 07, 2008

My favorite new record “Narrow Stairs” will arrive in stores and at all online retailers on May 13th. Produced by the member of band’s Chris Walla, “Narrow Stairs” will be preceded by the single, “I Will Possess Your Heart.” “I hope this album is a bit of a surprise for those out there that think they have us all figured out. We can’t wait to share these songs with the world,” states Death Cab bassist Nick Harmer. This sounds very good. (See full track listing below)

1. Bixby Canyon Bridge
2. I Will Possess Your Heart
3. No Sunlight
4. Cath…
5. Talking Bird
6. You Can Do Better Than Me
7. Grapevine Fires
8. Your New Twin Sized Bed
9. Long Division
10. Pity and Fear
11. The Ice Is Getting Thinner

Quiet Life - Act Natural

Friday, May 02, 2008

Quiet Life is also title of a Japan song from 80s, and that song was totally haunting. This band is quite far from David Sylvian's Japan, though. The United States based band's members are Sean Spellman, Ryan Spellman, Craig Rupert, Paul Dutton. Folk Rock and Indie Rock maybe sound very overal together. Actually, Folk rock is always a boring style with its lyrics or form. The band's debut "Act Natural" opens the scene pretty good, this first high flying song "Trying To Get Home" turn you on. Then, it becomes soul destroying. I don't know why i'm writing about for this band. Maybe it's because of some songs are full blooded here. Act Natural gives an slobbish impression at times. Or, I don't like Bright Eyes kind of music very much. If you consider four good track that i picked below, these are only energetic songs in the album.

MM picks: Trying To Get Home, Every Dime, Did You Love Me, Head in the Clouds
Rating: 7/10

Scarlett Johansson - Anywhere I Lay My Head

Look carefully to the cover of Scarlett Johansson's new album . You'll see too many times about this new great gloomy record on this blog. Everything has been so depressing featuring a lot of great Tom Waits tracks from Alice, Swordfishtrombones, Rain Dogs, Real Gone and Bone Machine. Especially cover of my personal favorite Tom Waits track Green grass by Scarlett Johansson is enormously delightful. You'll also hear Bowie on two tracks Falling down and Fannin' street. I've listened the whole album, but i won't put any mp3 tracks till the release date.
Listen the title track here.

ABC - Traffic

Wednesday, April 30, 2008

I've been listening to an original line-up of 80s, ABC! The new album comes with great twelve track, an effective record name, 80s style pop music. "TRAFFIC is 12 brand new songs, and in 2008 it's a real privilege to be able to compete after 25 years of making music," Martin Fly says. My first impression is "charming".

Say Hi - The Wishes and the Glitch

Thursday, April 24, 2008

Once upon a time, there was an indie rock band named with Say Hi To Your Mom. Time after time, their name changed to Say Hi to say more hey to their listeners. That was not enough to make happy indie kids. They released a sweet record, The Wishes and the Glitch. The opening was good with Northwestern Girls and the following nice tune was Shakes Her Shoulders. You could expect more from this band. This album was loveable, but all of the indie music was boring in the end.

Just my silly opinions, The Wishes and the Glitch is pleasing! As always I'll post a standout song.

New Music

Saturday, April 19, 2008

My computer has broken down, and i couldn't post about any of those amazing new records. I've been listening to The Tiger Lillies' new cabaret shit Seven Deadly Sins, a very theatrical like previous Tiger Lillies albums. Have you ever heard about Firewater, a gypsy-like indie rock band! They wrote and recorded a new record [The Golden Hour] with the help of local musicians and other miscreants. Tamir Muskat (Firewater, Balkan Beat Box) produced it. You can watch about the singer of Firewater travel on youtube.

In Ghost Colours, most of you should hear about this record, a brand new Cut Copy record. It sound good, but it rapes lots of Human League, Lcd Soundsystem and Daft Punk. If you try to show me 80s music catalog again, i still prefer Boy George, Human League. Please please don't copy my favorite bands (crying!). Ok! Cut Copy's In Ghost Colours offers almost the most beautiful new indie thing.
Cut Copy - Lights And Music

M83 is another great thing that i've discovered recently. Noisy, powerful and experimental rock music. Let me die in your arms! From Saturdays = Youth record:
M83 - Kim & Jessie

And also i've listened a lot of The Smiths
I was happy in the haze of a drunken hour, But heaven knows I'm miserable now.

Something for the ears
Radiohead - Nude Lyrics
Lily Allen - I Don't Know Lyrics
Kooks - Always Where I Need To Be Lyrics
Raheem DeVaughn - Love Drug Lyrics
Busta Rhymes - Don't Touch Me Lyrics
Jason Aldean - Laughed Until We Cried Lyrics

My Brightest Diamond - A Thousand Shark's Teeth

Sunday, April 13, 2008

I wanted to mention about A Thousand Shark's Teeth, but i hadn't enough time to listen to it. however the opener track "Inside A Boy" deserves a strong mention. Opener and first single “Inside A Boy” is classic Diamond, slippery guitars meet with gorgeous strings and Shara’s powerhouse voice. Meloncholy and Noise are in the same garden of music, you can like or not, but the guitar chords and sweetest vocal performance gets value for my ears. I want to sing with her everytime i play this song. Solid!

Ladytron - Velocifero

Velocifero definitely sounds like Ladytron. Danceable, sad and glittering. Velocifero has some electronic elements in the sound spinning around some Gary Numan, Human League and Kraftwerk. First six tracks are nearly the most sharp Ladytron works. After, it becomes darker, and it sounds quite good. If you look other indie pop, electronic combo from the year, Ladytron may be the only recognizable name. A standout piece of electronic pop song, Season Of Illusions summers that, this band won't stop releasing albums like 604, Light & Magic and Witching Hour. They're all great, and have enough power to break into mainstream music. Fantastic!

James - Hey Ma

Tuesday, April 08, 2008

OOOOOOooooooooo! tim booth tim booth. Dance of the bad angels. Booth. Hey Ma! Morrissey's ringleader of the tormenters was a big diss... for me. Hey Ma is the only hope to love britpop again. Where are songs like bittersweet symphony, girl afraid, laid? The songwriting is dead or i'm deaf? I want new The verve record, who will send it to me? Questions are going to stop? Boom boom. Moby, play that fuc*ing song for the last time. As you can see, writing reviews can be so depressing at times.

Vantage Point leaks with great impression on me! Vantage Point is set to out on April 21st! You can check their Myspace page. I also know that you love to steam albums before release dates, so what are your opinions about Vantage Point? R.E.M. - Accelerate

Friday, March 28, 2008

Accelerate draws a line around the same circle, dazzling guitar driven, it sometimes calls lush pop melodies, sweet sugars, playful like what R.E.M. was since they've began playing their music.

Accelerate can be black at times. Cover looked quite dirty to me, as if this was not pop rock. If it was Gutter Twins (Greg and Mark's new lineup) record, that cover would be ok. I think Accelerate sounds sweet, but cover leech its energy. Stipe lyrics ,where R.E.M. fans will enjoy, are clever as always. I think you heard the first single, Supernatural Superserious. And the whole record rounds around that kind of dynamic guitars, yes rock power! I don't want to be a cranky boy giving a rating to this under 5 out of 10. This record can be rated as avarage like 6/10. Dull!

Back to Accelerate, One of the best thing about Accelerate is that the songs are so tight together. It gets your attention to some catchy guitar sections like in the song Sing For The Submarine. A perfect R.E.M. formula, i liked that song so much, sharp! Accelerate makes a noise, grab it!

MM picks: Supernatural Superserious, Accelerate, Sing For The Submarine

Portishead - Third

Saturday, March 15, 2008

Rating: 9/10

Glory Box, Roads, Numb... As you know, these are the miraculous Portishead songs. They are one of that groups that are impossible to categorize. NYC Live (1998) was the last Portishead record. Ten years after, the new album has arrived. It's like dance music for skeletons in a graveyard. Sometimes dark and cold, sometimes panicky and noisy. At the end it's someting new quite admirable.

Ten years! First three track Silence, Hunter and Nylon Smile are going to make the long colder and colder. Nylon Smile is a great effort. The Rip is more ballad-like track and starting acoustically then turning to a electronic rhythm. Beth Gibbons made me feel very happy, cause she had never lost her amazing vocal talent. On the other hand some of the songs like Plastic, Small are headache and they're something unnecessary. Anyway, if you consider all those other huge new songs, Third is one of the best new things in the year. The song that named with We Carry On combines rock elements electronically, I think you'll remember the Joy Division shadows with this song. Machine Gun is a simple reason how this band brings something quite impressive. Third is a miracle and miracles come after the silence.

MM picks: Nylon Smile, We Carry On, Machine Gun, Magic Doors
