Vocalist Keyboardist Spencer Krug of the critically hailed Montreal band Wolf Parade (as well as part time Frog Eyes member) leads Sunset Rubdown, returns another rock album with lots of lauds, dreams, bells, piano beats and a broken voice.
"Dragonslayer" grabs soul of rock music, throws indie waves with eight new songs. The piano parts rings in your ear, opener "Silver Moons" is maybe one of the best Sunset Rubdown work. Its laud, spicy beats do not change here, Idiot Heart is the first single from "Dragonslayer". Like a disco rock song, fast guitar lines echo through the song, and i must note his amazing keybord performance at the end of song.
His anthem-like indie rock style comes once again to disturb your usual taste in music.
Highlights: Idiot Heart, Paper Lace

Manners- Passion Pit
Friday, May 22, 2009
'Manners' is finally out, and Passion Pit does not disappoint! After building up inordinate amounts of hopes and expectations for this release I was excited (and relieved) by how strong the entire album is, and how well it lives up to the hype. While 'Sleepyhead' is as good as ever and 'Moths Wings' is still my favorite, I've added several new favs to that list. 'To Kingdom Come' is a stand-out and the opener 'Make Light' is a brilliant wake up call to this band's talent.
The songs waver between soft and soaring to glowing and ecstatic, but the album does not waver in strength. There are fun dance tracks here, and they live side by side with much deeper sonic pools. Each of the tracks is a delight to tumble into; synth beats swarm throughout, and falsettos are keen and howling. Lyrics are brilliant, and the depth of each song grows with every listen. It’s great to see a band touch on delicacy and beauty and then swing right into raucous and carefree abandon. There was not a single song I didn't love, and my admiration for this band has reached new heights. In short... this may be my pick for album of the year!
Crank this thing up loud!
10/10

Manic Street Preachers announce remix album
Tuesday, May 19, 2009
Each track on Manic Street Preachers’ new album, “Journal For Plague Lovers”, is to be remixed for future release.
Following on from the likes of The Chemical Brothers, Mogwai, Stereolab, David Holmes, The Avalanches, Cornelius and Massive Attack, the Manics have given free rein to a diverse, hand-picked selection of studio hands.
The results range from a Public Image-meets-Charlie Watts cosmic disco stomp to a galloping Joe Meek goes shoegaze homage. The stellar cast of ‘Journal For Plague Lovers’ remixers is:
Andrew Weatherall ‘Peeled Apples’
Saint Etienne ‘Jackie Collins Existential Question Time’
British Sea Power ‘Me And Stephen Hawking’
Patrick Wolf ‘This Joke Sport Severed’
Optimo (Espacio) ‘Journal For Plague Lovers’
The Pariahs ‘She Bathed Herself In A Bath Of Bleach’
Adem ‘Facing Page Top Left’
New Young Pony Club ‘Marlon JD’
The Horrors ‘Doors Closing Slowly’
Errors ‘All Is Vanity’
Four Tet ‘Pretension/Repulsion’
Fuck Buttons ‘Virginia State Epileptic Colony’
Underworld ‘William’s Last Words’
Jonathan Krisp ‘Bag Lady’

Astrid Williamson release "Here Come The Vikings"
I've been a long time fan since i first discovered her previous band Goya Dress. Brighton-based cult singer songwriter Astrid Williamson
marks the release of the 4th solo album at 8th June . Here Come the Vikings is a good rock record, blending its style in rock, pop, torch song and soul.
Here Come the Vikings is a bold, self-assured effort resplendent in detailed artful arrangements exploring the mysteries of faith, gender dynamics, and physical love. Even without the electric component, the music remains vivid and full of emotion. I hope she reach more of her listeners this time.
