What's gotten into Okkervil River? While the band has always been basically the vehicle for the songs and musings of frontman Will Sheff, their formless approach--somewhere between indie rock, emo, and roots music--has always tended to be a too-middling, too-pensive, and an altogether too-tasteful affair. The Stage Names changes everything. With the mixing help of Spoon drummer and Austin producer extraordinaire Jim Eno, the Austin quintet finally unleash their inner rock animals and deliver an unhinged rock-&-roll record replete with finger snaps, swaggering riffs, and Sheff's most direct and dynamic song cycle yet.

The Sisters Of Mercy - Peel Sessions
Thursday, August 09, 2007
Here are pre-FM recordings of the glorious din taped by the Sisters of Mercy for the Kid Jensen show on BBC Radio 1 in early 1983. Tracks 1-4 come from the 2CD bootleg, Kamasutra. Still, the tracks showed slight traces of vinyl flaws.

M.I.A.
Wednesday, August 08, 2007
M.I.A. is hailed as one of the most freshly creative artists to hit the scene, paving the way for fierce and adventurous females to break the mold. With KALA, she pulls even more globe-trekking, and genre bending into her musical mix. Recorded in India, Trinidad, Australia, London, New York and Baltimore, M.I.A. has crafted an international sound that is as excitingly undefineable as it is infectious. On her new album Kala, i've just discovered a song which can make everyone dance!

Silence of the Lambs
I delight in watching the high artistic quality movies, betweentimes I'll try to post cult movies on this blog. This is already very famous motion picture, but what i like the most is not the scenario, it's acting of each character -- Hannibal Lecter, Clarice Starling and Buffalo Bill, they're quite memorable everytime you think of Silence of the Lambs. Buffalo Bill Dancing is my favorite scene from the movie, and also the song by a goth band Psyche sounds quite good!
