The Go! Team - Proof of Youth

Saturday, July 28, 2007

'They’ve been playing this one live for a few years now, and it's become an exuberant anthem,
one that evokes feelings of bliss a la The Polyphonic Spree and mixes hi-fi music with lo-fi vocals. Plus, it got people in our office moving.' Filter says about the song. I'll call this song as summer happiness or sunrise. There are other definite cuts like amazing Titanic Vandalism, first single Grip Like A Vice, and many others... Pretty good record, i'll keep listening to "Proof of Youth", and sure it'll help to make my day good!

Calexico - Tool Box

Thursday, July 26, 2007

Calexico have certainly not been idle in the days since they have last been on the road. Aside from keeping busy with a number of collaborative projects and working on a very exciting film project, Joey and John found time to drop into Big Block studio above Wavelab to record 14 brand new instrumental tracks just in time for the upcoming European tour! It’s called Tool Box, and some tracks are good:
Calexico - Hair Like Spanish Moss
Calexico - The News About William

Alphaville Singles

Wednesday, July 25, 2007

Named after Godard's 1959 science-fiction masterpiece and heavily influenced by '80s synth
bands like Depeche Mode, Alphaville was the Munich-based trio of Marian Gold, Bernhard Lloyd
and Frank Mertens. Following their all-keyboards approach longer after synth-pop was fashionable but unfortunately disbanding before artists such as Mouse On Mars made Germanic
synthesizer music hip again in the late '90s, Alphaville remained rather outside of musical trends during their mid-'80s lifespan. What i like most about 80s great synth-pop bands is you play them whenever you want!

Múm - Go Go Smear The Poison Ivy

Monday, July 23, 2007

Iceland pop experimentalists Múm are ready to release another great record Go Go Smear The Poison Ivy on the Fat Cat label on September 24, 2007. But it was leaked on the internet. The album is a change from normal múm as it uses more live instruments than electronics, and there is a different lyrical style. I really do like instumental sections which are so harmonious, musically electronic. Playful and imaginative! Lyrically very complicated like no one wants to speak anymore. Some songs are deep and passionate like cult movie soundtrack. Especially the song named as Winter reminds famous Roman Polanski horror film Rosemary's Baby soundtrack.
MM picks: Dancing Behind My Eyelids, Blessed Brambles, A Little Bit, Sometimes

Múm - Moon Pulls
