90's Rock Songs
Part I
Popular Rock Hits From 90s
I won't give up listening to these songs even if everyone knows them. Why you have to be someone else? Why do you give up listening to songs that made commercial success? Does it make you special? I asked these questions to myself, and I only listen what i like. Everything is pop. Pop is everything.
1. R.E.M. - Losing My Religion
Much was made of the meaning of the title "Losing My Religion" among inquiring pop fans.
Was it an old Southern saying? Gibberish? Or an admission of something more personal by
singer and lyricist Michael Stipe? In the end, it didn't really matter, as R.E.M. took all the elements that made their previous efforts great and found themselves with a worldwide hit. The sound of gently plucked acoustic instruments, at once traditional and contemporary, and a strong sense of melody, made for the ultimate song from an already great band. Mike Mills recounted in an interview that in Israel the song was referred to as "O Life," referring to the first line of the song; in the U.S., the band scored its first Top Five hit. The album from which it was taken, Out of Time, eventually made it to number one; an accompanying video won all the top honor awards a video could that year. If R.E.M. hadn't yet charted on the radar for some folks, "Losing My Religion" ensured the band a place in pop history when it became the ubiquitous song during the summer of 1991. Amg Review
2. Radiohead - Paranoid Android
Paranoid Android absolutely makes Thom Yorke a better singer, but beauty of the song comes
from its alternative flowings, passages. Three section during the song; beginning, middle and
ending. With this song, you'll realize the best reason why you should listen to Radiohead. Because you don't need to do anything, just let it play!
3. Simply Red - Stars
Simply Red's records are maybe not my bag. The band released another great hits such as "Fairground", "If You Don't Know Me By Now". Stars was truly top of the band, sometimes simple songs are very hard to write. Stars takes simplicity and goes with the choruses which invites you to sing along.
4. Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares To You
Logging the highest level of chart performance for any single in 1990, Irish singer Sinéad
O'Connor's cover of the Prince composition "Nothing Compares 2 U" catapulted her from a
college-radio favorite into international stardom, to which she responded with passionate,
controversial political stands and increasingly erratic behavior.
5. Smashing Pumpkins - Today
6. Counting Crows - Mr. Jones
7. Nirvana - In Bloom
"In Bloom" was a cryptic attack on Nirvana's more clueless fans, embodied in a working-class Joe who "likes all our pretty songs/And he likes to sing along/And he likes to shoot his gun/But he don't know what it means."
8. The Cure - Friday, I'm In Love
9. Duran Duran - Ordinary World
10. Incubus - Stellar

Hungarian Suicide Song: Gloomy Sunday
Friday, July 20, 2007
"Gloomy Sunday" (from Hungarian "Szomoru Vasarnap", is a song written by the Hungarian
self-taught pianist and composer Rezso Seress in 1933. According to urban legend, it inspired hundreds of suicides. When the song was first marketed in the United States, it became known as the "Hungarian suicide song".There is no systematic substantiation for such claims, as it is not documented where any such allegations appear in press coverage or other publications of the time. The song was covered several times, and these are my favorite cover versions:
Sinead O'Connor - Gloomy Sunday (great cover)
Diamanda Galas - Gloomy Sunday (a great voice)
Sarah McLachlan - Gloomy Sunday
Paul Robeson - Gloomy Sunday
Billie Holiday - Gloomy Sunday Youtube Video

Morcheeba - Dive Deep
Wednesday, July 18, 2007
Following The Antidote (2005), Dive Deep is their next studio album which is expected to be released in late 2007 and is expected to have several vocalists taking the stage instead of the one vocalist all throughout the album. Some of the songs bound to appear on the album have been uploaded for listening on Morcheeba's Myspace site. Songs played included; Flowers, Enjoy The Ride, Riverbed and Washed Away. I like Morcheeba, and i think Dive Deep is a great Morcheeba record. And two of my favourite songs from it are:
Morcheeba - Flowers (Feat. Manda)
Morcheeba - Blue Chair (Feat. Judy Tzuke)
If you like Morcheeba, then listen to:
Portishead - Dummy

Live Free Or Die Hard
Tuesday, July 17, 2007
This ain't the best Die Hard Serie for sure, but it's one of the best action movies of the summer.
If you don't like the term 'the best', it's a nice movie you can eat popcorn with. Despite John McClane's funny jokes, it still includes the most overdone action scenes that i saw in a long time.
For example, McClane learns to walk on a F-16! He also learns jumping to a long distance from the F-16. On Live Free Of Die Hard, you watch unlimited action scenes one by one, and you adore McClane as a character. By the way, typical Hollywood always has lovemaking scenes. I believe my eyes that McClane wasn't going out with a chick. Still Die Hard (1988) may be the best action/adventure series of all.

Singles
1. Thrills - Nothing Changes Around Here
I always like broken voices which show how people are different from any other living creature in the world. We're sensible! It’s a pity that some of us really don't have any emotions, even soul. They kill each other for only oil, for more land and for more money! Now that really makes us different from any animal in this world. We can also be very cruel! There is literally nothing to get excited about here, the lyrics are insipid and lifeless and the music is middle of the road and uninspiring. But, this song made me think about these, and hell yeah, "Nothing Changes Around Here".
2. Joss Stone feat Common - Tell Me What We're Gonna Do Now
Joss Stone is younger than me, but she started to impress me with her god-given voice.
3. Tokyo Police Club - Your English Is Good
True to form, Canadian pop-rockers Tokyo Police Club’s latest single is another excellently jovial slice of upbeat jangles and hand-clapping try-this-at-home bits. Read on Drowned In Sound
4. Jarvis Cocker - Fat Children
5. Garbage – Tell Me Where It Hurts
6. Mya ft. Lil Wayne - Lock U Down
7. The Rakes - The World Was A Mess But His Hair Was Perfect
8. Bloc Party - Hunting For Witches
9. Under The Influence Of Giants - In The Clouds
10. Mumm-Ra - Starlight

1408
Sunday, July 15, 2007
A man who specializes in debunking paranormal occurrences checks into the fabled room 1408
in the Dolphin Hotel. Soon after settling in, he confronts genuine terror. With John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson. I saw the film two days ago. Despite John Cusack's very small lips that i hate,
1408 was imaginative and something worth watching. When a The Carpenters song kept playing, i remembered beautiful Karen Carpenter, i thought it'd be very nice sharing with you. "We've only just begun" was playing several times in that room 1408, and song sounds more frightening than Cusack's selfish acting when you're in a locked creepy hotel room.
