Arcade Fire & David Bowie Live EP (Live At Fashino Rocks)

Saturday, June 23, 2007

This version of Life on Mars? is absolutely worth a listen - gloomy piano melodies , Bowie's one of a kind vocal performance - Arcade Fire and David Bowie, they are both great artists. These songs are from a live performance from Radio City Music Hall, during a taping for the Fashion Rocks TV Special back in September of this year. There is no electronic remixing, no mash-ups, and no updates to these two classics and one future classic.

Elvis Presley - From Elvis in Memphis

Elvis Presley may be the single most important figure in American 20th century popular music. Not necessarily the best, and certainly not the most consistent. But no one could argue with the fact that he was the musician most responsible for popularizing rock & roll on an international level. Viewed in cold sales figures, his impact was phenomenal. Dozens upon dozens of international smashes from the mid-'50s to the mid-'70s, as well as the steady sales of his catalog and reissues since his death in 1977, may make him the single highest-selling performer in history. I just don't want to make dirty this classic record because of my broken English. I love "From Elvis in Memphis" (1969). Here comes a fascinating backup singing and never-to-be-forgotten closing track.

Elvis Presley - Long Black Limousine
Elvis Presley - In The Ghetto (all time favorite)

Van Morrison - Moondance
Joni Mitchell - For The Roses

New Smashing Pumpkins

Wednesday, June 20, 2007

The two new Smashing Pumpkins songs Doomsday Clock, Tarantula, and i've got a bad feeling of Zeitgeist. I haven't had problem of previous Billy Corgan and Smashing Pumpkins record. Anyway it's great to see them back (Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin). Doomsday Clock sounds better than Tarantula, hooks are great, but, isn't it so simple to be a Smashing Pumpkins song?

Weezer - The Blue Album

After a long exhausting season of work, nothing sounds better than the word, HOLIDAY! whenever i listen to The Blue Album, Weezer reminds me Summer, Parties and Holiday. Amg says: 'What makes the band so enjoyable is their charming geekiness; instead of singing about
despair, they sing about love, which is kind of refreshing in the gloom-drenched world of '90s guitar-pop.' And i say this is a must have!

It sounds great!

The Lives of Others

Tuesday, June 19, 2007

The way of looking both sides of life from motion pictures is a great gift for modern people. Many different stories, tragedies, happinesses, voices, faces, and i do believe that we can learn a lot about these from a movie. Thanks to Live of Others' creators for bringing such a meaningful movie despite its desperate atmospehere at times. However, life comes as a gift and it all depends on us to see the best or worst side of it.

Lives of Others is about a stunning story connected to historical events (cultural scene of East Berlin), at the same time a deep love of two person. The movie includes very nice soundtrack by Gabriel Yared & Stéphane Moucha. The one i really love:

New Music of the Week

Monday, June 18, 2007

New Singles
1. Gwen Stefani – 4 In The Morning
Stefani truly knows how to use her baby-like voice, especially on chorus. This song deserves a listen, passionate and fashionable!

2. Take That – I’d Wait For Life
With perfect piano sound and melancholic atmosphere, Take That are almost best of the week.

3. Marillion - Thankyou Whoever You Are
Oh what a nice rock ballad! It's been a big surprise for me, because this was the last song when i was preparing the list. Good surprise!

4. Clipse – Wamp Wamp
Clipse are three times better than 50 cent with "Wamp Wamp", because it's boring to hear Indian beats on every 50 Cent song.

5. Horrors – She Is The New Thing
6. Editors – Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors
7. Muse - Map Of The Problematique
8. Ash – Polaris
9. 50 Cent – Straight To The Bank
10. The Bravery - Time Won't Let Me Go
Believe me, this is the worst The Bravery song. Crap!

Happy Mondays - Uncle Dysfunktional

The Happy Mondays are back - they've recorded a brand new album - their first in more than 14 years. I always appreciated their music and style that need any description. Rock, hip-hop, electronic dance music, hooks, so many reason to enjoy this stuff. Sometimes you want your old friend back, even if everything seems different now. My feeling is the same for Happy Mondays! Anti Warhole On The Dancefloor sounds both amazing and stupid - funky beats, oriental music, and it's one of the most enjoyable works recently.
