Art Brut - Its A Bit Complicated

Rating: 8.1/10
Review

South London's Art Brut prove themself, and they ironically rock all the way while other britbands --Kaiser Chiefs, Arctic Monkeys, are licking their lollipops.

"Its A Bit Complicated" is very nice with full of rock'n roll hooks. Eddie Argos reminding to The Falls' vocalist Mark E. Smith with his snarling, nearly incomprehensible vocals. Their rapid guitars are here to control your emotions thoughtlessly. Ironic lyrics, go-go guitars, a fully grown record comes as this years' the most rockable record. Even if he never gives up his unmelodious and talkie vocal, you really go with his empty words. He's saying 'sorry if my accent's fooled' or 'punk's not dead', and you're almost about to answer 'no problem play on, you rock'. Almost every song sounds addictive and ready to rock with the soul of punk rock. "Bang Bang Rock & Roll" was hit that summer, and this is better. Art Brut's "Its A Bit Complicated" is a very good reason to stop listening those the increasing indie kids.

Leonard Cohen cover by Rufus Wainwright

Throwing your clothes to sofa, getting rid of dirt on your body, and turning up the volume of the song that makes you on cloud nine. Then something starts to change inside of you. Yes! I want to shout it loud, love this cover song very very much. Thank you Leonard Cohen, you're a genious and thank you Mr. Wainwright for representing this song wonderfully. "I'm Your Man" is a soundtrack album features Leonard Cohen covers in which you can find great Cohen covers by Antony, Beth Orton and Jarvis Cocker. 'Everybody knows, everybody knows, thats how it goes!'

New The Polyphonic Spree

Their name really fits with the bands' efforts, a polyphony sound , catchy orchestral pop, and dozen of members playing various instruments. The most colourful side of The Polyphonic Spree is their live performance, think of two dozen members are costumed in colourful clothes. Having a multiplicity of sounds, waving hello to 1960s' the most popular surf band Beach Boys, The Polyphonic Spree now ready to push their career with "The Fragile Army". It's a sometimes exhausting listen, but it's because of their polyphonics. "Get Up and Go" is something that like to sing with from the new record. If you like bands like The Flaming Lips, Spiritualized, and Mercury Rev, this should be your new addiction.
The album is scheduled to be released on TVT Records in June 2007.

Interpol Live

Bitter, fiery, mellow, up to blue skies, Interpol once again delivers a great indie rock collection
of songs on 2007's Our Love To Admire. Following our previous mention on New Interpol, we discover some live songs from the upcoming record plus a classic Interpol song "Say Hello To The Angels". Believe me "Pioneer To The Falls," sounds great that i almost felt flying on listening to this live performance. Interpol truly becomes a well-qualified indie rock band, they deserve this! As for now, "Pioneer To The Falls", "Mammoth" and "The Heinrich Maneuver" are all hooky and smooth.

New Paul McCartney

Paul McCartney's new album, titled Memory Almost Full, will be released on June 5th. The album, which is being produced by David Kahne, who helmed McCartney's 2001 Driving Rain set, follows the framework of most of McCartney's work over the past 25 years, including full band tracks mixed with songs featuring McCartney on all instruments. The new set is McCartney's 21st mainstream solo studio album, and his followup to 2005's Grammy-nominated Chaos And Creation In The Backyard. A good recording that rocks in every part!

Battles - Mirrored

Rating: 10/10
Post Rock/Experimental
Battles' first album, "Mirrored" is completely full of songs that are both catchy and experimental. Race In, Leyendecker are good examples; While "Race In," get your attention by joyful atmosphere of the music, "Atlas" has a nice vocal edge that reminds to us nothing we've heard before. However it's possible to see well-calculated guitar hooks, spaced rhythms and
gorgeous electronics on this record, moreover this is entirely melodic one. It's not like other hyped and dull experimental records. And if you like names like The Knife, Animal Collective, you'll fall in love with this.

This year, i haven't been surprised many times except "Mirrored", so clever and impresive with its cutting edges. A record that you can discover every time something new. Timeless!
