In the City was the debut album of British Punk band The Jam. It was released in 1977 (see 1977 in music) by Polydor Records and featured the hit single and title track "In the City".
Launching the career of singer, guitarist, and songwriter Paul Weller, who remains a successful solo artist to this day, the trio was known for its high-energy, hard-hitting pop songs, distinctly British flavour, and sharp mod image. All three members were skilled musicians and made critical contributions to the group’s sound. Weller wrote and sang virtually all of the group’s original compositions, and drove them with the chiming tones of a Rickenbacker guitar. Bassist Bruce Foxton made up for the group’s lack of a second guitarist by carrying much of the melody in his distinctive playing, a confluence of the power of John Entwistle with the speed and melodicism of Paul McCartney. His instantly memorable basslines were the foundation of many of the group’s songs, including the hits "Down in the Tube Station at Midnight", "The Eton Rifles", and "A Town Called Malice". Foxton’s sweet harmonies also gave the group another memorable cachet. Drummer Rick Buckler played with the full-on energy of Keith Moon, but dispensed with Moon’s flashiness in favour of steady but intricate beats and subtle, deft touches. Despite having only three members, The Jam are still regarded as one of the most powerful and fiery groups in British rock.

Go Team - Thunder, Lightning, Strike
Thunder, Lightning, Strike is the debut album by The Go! Team. It was
released on British label Memphis Industries in 2004 (see 2004 in music) and was nominated for the 2005 Mercury Music Prize.
The album was re-released in the U.S. and UK by Columbia Records in October 2005. It was slightly remixed (due to sample clearance issues) and contains bonus tracks.
The Go! Team are a Brighton, United Kingdom-based six piece band (with two drummers) whose songs are a mixture of action theme songs, cheerleader chants, indie-rock guitars and early hip-hop, with a hint of '70s funk. They place more emphasis on live instrumentation than some of their contemporaries, although they do base many of their songs around samples from various sources.

U2 - Discography
Biography:
Through a combination of zealous righteousness and post-punk experimentalism, U2 became one of the most popular rock & roll bands of the '80s. Equally known for their sweeping sound as for their grandiose statements about politics and religion, U2 were rock & roll crusaders during an era of synthesized pop and heavy metal. The Edge provided the group with a signature sound by creating sweeping sonic landscapes with his heavily processed, echoed guitars. Though the Edge's style wasn't conventional, the rhythm section of Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen, Jr. played the songs as driving hard rock, giving the band a forceful, powerful edge that was designed for arena rock. And their lead singer, Bono, was a frontman who had a knack of grand gestures that played better in arenas than small clubs. It's no accident that footage of Bono parading with a white flag with "Sunday Bloody Sunday" blaring in the background became the defining moment of U2's early career -- there rarely was a band that believed so deeply in rock's potential for revolution as U2, and there rarely was a band that didn't care if they appeared foolish in the process. During the course of the early '80s, the group quickly built up a dedicated following through constant touring and a string of acclaimed records. By 1987, the band's following had grown large enough to propel them to the level of international superstars with the release of The Joshua Tree. Unlike many of their contemporaries, U2 were able to sustain their popularity in the '90s by reinventing themselves as a postmodern, self-consciously ironic dance-inflected pop/rock act, owing equally to the experimentalism of late-'70s Bowie and '90s electronic dance and techno. By performing such a successful reinvention, the band confirmed its status as one of the most popular bands in rock history, in addition to earning additional critical respect.

The Smiths - Singles
Useful Informations:
The Smiths may have been at the height of their popularity in early 1987, with the non-LP singles "Shoplifters of the World" and "Sheila Take a Bow" reaching number 11 and 10 respectively, and the singles and B-sides compilation The World Won't Listen (revamped for U.S. release as Louder Than Bombs later in 1987) debuting at number two, but Marr was growing increasingly disenchanted with the band and the music industry. Over the course of the year, Morrissey and Marr became increasingly irritated with each other. The singer wished that Marr would stop playing with other artists like Bryan Ferry and Billy Bragg, while the guitarist was frustrated with Morrissey's devotion to '60s pop and his hesitancy to explore new musical directions. A few weeks before the fall release of Strangeways, Here We Come disbanded the group shortly afterward and began a solo career, signing with Parlophone in the U.K. and staying with the Smiths' U.S. label, Reprise. , Marr announced that he was leaving the Smiths. MorrisseyMarr played as a sideman with a variety of artists, eventually forming Electronic with New Order frontman Bernard Sumner. Rourke retired from recording and Joyce became a member of the reunited Buzzcocks in 1991.

Supergrass - I Should Coco
[modern music recommended]
I Should Coco was Supergrass's 1995 debut album. This album was released at the height of Britpop when numerous small bands were springing up, usually influenced by what were seen as the two biggest bands in the genre, Oasis and Blur. Supergrass were one of the few bands who went on to have lasting success.
Influences
The influences on Supergrass for this album were extremely diverse, ranging from the very cheerful, fast, keyboard augmented "I'd Like To Know" to the guitar-driven Punk narrative, "Caught By The Fuzz" to the mainly piano based rhythm of the teen anthem "Alright" and finally to the acoustic guitar and country music influenced, "Time to Go." Even in the extremely diverse genre of Britpop, the album was seen as very eclectic; usually as a compliment. Overall, the album could be described only as Britpop, music influenced in equal parts by The Buzzcocks and The Kinks.
MM review
After listening classic punk bands like Buzzcocks,The kinks,New york dolls It's one of the best Choice Supergrass for listening. You feel some kind of strange feelings sitting, wishing and suddenly wanna jump and shout out loud!!!!If you listen this order this wanderfull songs:'Caught by the Fuzz','Strange Ones','She's So Loose','Lose It','Time to Go'.....You'll know that they are really amazing.Like several bands they've a great first album.Lots of band are releasing such commercial albums. We listen them only for one week and that's boring. Supergrass,The Bluetones,Suede,Shed 7....have their own style and tasteful succesfull records.

Elliott Smith - Either / Or (1997)
Friday, March 03, 2006
Either/Or (1997) is the name of the third album recorded by American
singer-songwriterElliott Smith.
The album was released on Kill Rock Stars on 25 February 1997 on compact disc and vinyl LP. It was Smith's second full-length release on the influential Seattle record label.
It has been speculated that the title of Either/Or refers to the logical condition of an absurd human life: Either life has a profound meaning or death is the only option. However, the title is actually derived from the Søren Kierkegaard book of the same name, reflecting Smith's interest in philosophy, something he studied (among other subjects) at Hampshire College in Massachusetts. Smith battled with depression throughout his mature life and Either/Or reflects that with such dispiriting song titles as "Ballad of Big Nothing", "Between the Bars", "No Name No. 5", "Cupid's Trick".
Notes
- "Angeles", "Between the Bars", and "Say Yes" were used in the soundtrack for Gus Van Sant's film Good Will Hunting, along with "No Name #3" from Roman Candle and an orchestral version of "Between the Bars."

THE WORKING TITLE
[Modern Music Review]
The working title.A new modern rock band CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA United States .I don't want to call their genre like alternative rock. All of the bands are named alternative rock by people in these days. They have a different standings with their music.Sometimes their sound can be so pure. And you can think that they are happy but there is some misery and Their lyrics are really pathetic by frontmen Joel Hamilton. This band will evolve.Their works are showing it openly.Their new CD “About-Face” has no set release date yet, but it’s expected sometime in June.
Starting of musics are very impressive but middle of the songs There's a vocal problem about the melody not him voice. So,Songs are playing but you are not listening them. The most impressive song of them is named 'The crash'.Be carefull I didn't say they are bad.Of course they have a good start with their songs and wanderful band.

Using the cover shot for 12 X 5, the second US-released album in October 1964, The Rolling Stones No. 2's tracklisting would largely be emulated on the upcoming US release of The Rolling Stones, Now!. While Eric Easton was co-credited as producer alongside Andrew Loog Oldham on The Rolling Stones' debut album, Oldham takes full production duties forThe Rolling Stones No, 2, which was recorded sporadically in the UK and US during 1964.
A huge hit in England upon release, The Rolling Stones No. 2 spent 10 weeks at #1 in early 1965, becoming one of the year's biggest sellers in the United Kingdom.
Due to the preference towards the American albums, ABKCO Records has overlooked both The Rolling Stones and The Rolling Stones No. 2 for CD release in 1986 and during its remastering series in 2002. Consequently, the album has been out of print for many years.

The work of bassist Skuli Sverrisson
Skuli Sverrisson studied acoustic and electric bass in Iceland and attended Berklee College of Music. After graduating in 1991 he cut a series of CDs for Extreme with the group Mo Boma, whosework reflected world music influences while exploring electronic effects and ambient moods. Skuli toured with guitarist Allan Holdsworth from '91 to '96 and has since been a mainstay of New York's Downtown scene. His upcoming projects include a trio CD with clarinetist Anthony Burr and a duo album with Icelandic guitarist Hilmer Jensson. Sverrisson also continues his longtime collaboration with Reed man Chris Speed, guitarist Brad Shepik, and drummer Jim Black, sharing their enthusiasm for a jazz/west-Asian/ Balkan synthesis while rooting his contribution in the music of Steve Swallow, Charlie Haden, and Jaco. "When you improvise together as long as we have, you create a relationship with more built into it than notes. You develop a language and an aesthetic trust." The team's '97 CD Pachora is available from Knitting Factory; Speed and Sverrisson also backed avant-Celtic singer Susan McKeown on last year's Bushes & Briars [Alula].

The Pachora lineup is Chris Speed on clarinet, Brad Shepik on electric
saz (that's saz, NOT sax) and tambura, Skuli Sverrison on bass, and
Jim Black on drums and percussion. The saz is a Middle Eastern
stringed instrument, and dumbek--played by Jim Black--is one of the
premier percussion instruments from the same region. The flavoring,
then, is heavily Middle Eastern, and Pachora light into their songs
with great intensity and even greater musicianship.
The tunes are almost all original, but based on modes and melodies
from the Middle East. The one exception to this is Pachora's cover of,
believe it or not, David Bowie's The Man Who Sold the World, which
they render with their characteristic stylings, giving it a truly
unique feel.

Collective Soul - Home (2cd) (2006)
Release Notes:
With just about every hard rock band issuing collaborations with symphonies (Metallica, Kiss, The Scorpions, etc.), it was Collective Soul's turn to do the deed in 2006, with the release of the CD Home: A Live Concert Recording with the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra. But unlike some of the other bands that have taken the "symphonic plunge," Collective Soul's sound was always heavily orchestrated most noticeably on their 1995 hit, "The World I Know,"so it's not that big of a stretch for the band as you might assume. And as a result, it all comes off sounding more natural than usual unlike some of the other symphonic rock experiments that sound extremely forced musically.
Recorded in their hometown during April of 2005, many of the songs are actually improved in these orchestrated versions, also something that can't be said about your usual rock/symphony hybrid. Name a Collective Soul favorite and it's here "Listen," "December," the aforementioned "The World I Know," "Gel," and of course, their breakthrough hit "Shine," which serves as a set closer.
Regardless of whether you like Collective Soul or not, after hearing and viewing Home, it should be widely agreed that they're one of the few rock acts that successfully pulled off the symphonic rock experiment.

Muddy Waters - Electric Mud
Electric Mud
McKinley Morganfield (Muddy "Mississippi" Waters)
Born April 4,1915 Rolling Fork, Mississippi
Died April 30, 1983. Chicago Illinois
Informations about album:
Warning: "Electric Mud" is a blues album with heavy psychedelic rock influences! If you consider yourself to be a blues purist, then I would encourage you to look elsewhere for something that will be more compatible with your musical tastes.
This is the infamous "somebody-put-something-in-the-Waters" LP from 1968. A relative hit for Chess, it features the exalted bluesman bellowing over psychedelicized arrangements that owe more to Steppenwolf than Willie Dixon. Waters himself complained that the drums were too busy and the lead guitar sounded like a cat's meow.

Following the departure of several key band members, Siouxsie & the Banshees regrouped and redirected their sound for Kaleidoscope, their third album. Veering from a punkish, more guitar-oriented sound, the Banshees (reduced to a trio) began their experimentation with gothic and electronic soundscapes. This album also marks the debut of the Banshees’ new drummer and songwriter Budgie, who would continue to record with the band throughout their remaining history. Polydor Records released this album in the UK in 1980.

SMITHS-BEST OF

Best…I is a compilation album by The Smiths. It was released in August, 1992 by the new owner of their back catalogue, WEA (Sire Records in the United States). Its highest British chart position was #1; it reached #139 on the U.S. charts.
About this album:
WEA (now the Warner Music Group) had acquired the entire Smiths back catalogue in early 1992. Along with the re-release of all original albums and compilations, they immediately set to work compiling a Best Of in two volumes. It was the first time a regular best-of compilation had ever been made of The Smiths material and the album effortlessly reached the top of the British charts. The British press groaned about sell-out and low track selection coherence.
The material is more or less picked and sequenced at random, and consists of both singles and album cuts. It was followed later the same year by its sibling, ...Best II. The first spin-off single, a re-release of "This Charming Man", reached #8 in the singles chart, the highest position a Smiths single had ever reached. A second single promoting Best...I, an edited re-release of "How Soon Is Now?", got to #16 (the uncut version is featured on the compilation).
…Best II is a compilation album by The Smiths. It was released in November, 1992 by the new owner of their back catalogue, WEA (Sire Records in the United States). Its highest British chart position was #29; it did not chart in the U.S.

Tindersticks - Curtains
[Modern Music Recommended]
Tindersticks is the name of a baroque rock band from Nottingham, England. Their sound is characterized by a synthesis of orchestral backing, lounge jazz, and soul; the lush orchestrations of multi-instrumentalist Dickon Hinchliffe and the smoky baritone of lead vocalist Stuart Staples are the band's hallmarks. Tindersticks have employed electric guitars, as most rock bands have done, but augment their instrumentation with a wide array of instruments: Rhodes piano, glockenspiel, vibraphone, violin, trumpet, trombone, clarinet, bassoon, Hammond organ, and many more are prominently utilized in the music of Tindersticks. The band has a fanatical following in the United Kingdom and continental Europe, although the eclectic and unique sound Tindersticks possesses understandably never made significant inroads in the mainstram.

The band was formed in London, England in 1976, by Mike Barson (Monsieur Barso) on keyboards and vocals, Chris Foreman (Chrissy Boy) on guitar and Lee Thompson (Kix) on saxophone and vocals under the name The North London Invaders. In 1978 they were joined by frontman Graham McPherson (Suggs) on vocals, Mark Bedford (Bedders) on bass guitar and Daniel Woodgate (Woody) on drums. The band's first single, released September 1st 1979 on The Specials' 2 Tone label, was "The Prince". The song, written by Lee Thompson, was a tribute to the Jamaican ska musician Prince Buster, whose song, "Madness", the band had named themselves after and which also was released as the B-side of "The Prince". This was followed by the album One Step Beyond... in 1979, named after another Prince Buster song, which stayed in the British charts for over a year, peaking at number 2. One Step Beyond... was released on Stiff Records, which became the band's recording label. From 1979 through 1988, the band released 25 singles and eight albums (including two compilation albums) in the UK. During the early 1980's Madness was one of the most popular bands in Britain. In 1984 the band formed their own record label; Zarjazz Records. The album "Mad Not Mad" was the first Madness album released on this label, in 1985.

Parklife is a Britpop album by the band Blur, released on April 25, 1994.
Blur's sketches of British life among ordinary men and women prompted many reviewers to compare the band to The Kinks. Robyn Hitchcock (born March 3, 1953) is a rock and roll singer-songwriter and psych folk artist.
Born in London, he began his recording career in 1976 with the Cambridge-based band The Soft Boys. In 1981 the band broke up and Hitchcock embarked upon his distinguished solo career, recording both under his own name and as Robyn Hitchcock & The Egyptians (which includes Andy Metcalfe and Morris Windsor from The Soft Boys).
Hitchcock's musical and lyrical styles have drawn influence from his appreciation of Bob DylanSyd Barrett. His tendency for irreverent-sounding delivery has led to critics misunderstanding him as a purely novelty/comic lyricist. Many of the sentiments within his writing are actually quite serious in themselves, only framed in an unpretentious, whimsical manner. and
A lifelong Dylan fan, Hitchcock's 2002 album Robyn Sings is an album of Bob Dylan song covers including a live recording of his recreation of Dylan's Live at the Royal Albert Hall 1966 concert.
Also in 2002, Hitchcock re-united with Kimberley Rew and Windsor for The Soft Boys release of Nextdoorland.
Hitchcock has collaborated with film director Jonathan Demme on two projects: the live concert film Storefront Hitchcock (1998) and the 2004 remake of The Manchurian Candidate, in which Hitchcock portrayed double-agent Laurent Tokar.
Additionally, Hitchcock has a keen interest in abstract art and literature, writes short stories and draws (often in a whimsical cartoon style).

Interpol - Antics,Turn on the bright lights
Turn on the Bright Lights was New York City rock band Interpol's first
full-length album. It was released in 2002 on Matador Records to a great deal of critical acclaim and sold exceptionally well for an indie release. It also ranked highly on the yearly lists of many rock critics'.
Musically, many have pointed out the similarities between Turn on the Bright Lights and the 1970s group Joy Division. Both groups make heavy use of drums, often as the lead instrument in a song, and the lead singer of Interpol, Paul Banks, has a somewhat similar voice in tone to that of Joy Division's Ian Curtis.

Antics is the second album by New York City-based band Interpol, released on September 28, 2004 (see
2004 in music). Although more confident than its predecessor,Turn on the Bright Lights, it largely repeats the same formula of sparse arrangement driven by bass throb and strong drums, with powerful, evocative lyrics sung in a resonant, mordant voice by vocalist Paul Banks and intricate guitar lines.
The album was reissued in August 2005 in the United States with a bonus disc that contained four remixes by the band, a b-side, and the videos for all three singles.

Interpol is a New York City indie rock band formed in 1998. Their debut album Turn on the Bright Lights
was critically acclaimed, while the follow-up, Antics, has also been a commercial and critical success. The members of the band are Paul Banks on vocals and guitar, Carlos Dengler on bass and keyboards, Sam Fogarino on drums, and Daniel Kessler on guitar and background vocals. The band's sound is a dark mix of bass throb and choppy, sparse guitar. Turn on the Bright Lights was spare and tentative, but their second album Antics embraced a fuller, more confident sound. Both Antics and Turn on the Bright Lights were recorded at Tarquin Studios in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
The band formed when Daniel Kessler met drummer Greg Drudy, now a member of screamo band Hot Cross, on the New York University campus. Kessler later added Carlos D., an ex-guitarist, on the bass, after meeting him in a history class. The line-up was complete after Kessler remembered an old friend he met while in Paris. Banks and Kessler ran into each other on the street, after losing touch since Paris, and Banks became lead singer. In 2000, Greg left the band, and Daniel recruited Sam, whom the band knew through his job at a local record store.
The band will take time off after their Antics tour for an unknown amount of time. A new song by the band, 'Direction' was released on the soundtrack to the television program 'Six Feet Under' on June 28, 2005. In addition to this, their music has also been used in a soundtrack to popular teen drama 'The OC.'

Formation (1980-1982)
R.E.M. formed at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, in January 1980. Discovering they had similar tastes, vocalist Michael Stipe (born January 4, 1960 in Decatur, Georgia) and guitarist Peter Buck (born December 6, 1956 in Berkeley, California) began working together, eventually meeting bassist Mike Mills (born December 17, 1958 in Orange County, California) and drummer Bill Berry (born July 31, 1958 in Duluth, Minnesota). In April 1980, the band formed under the name Twisted Kites to play a birthday party for their friend Kathleen O'Brien, rehearsing a number of garage, psychedelic bubblegum, and punk covers in a converted Episcopalian church. By the summer, the band had settled on the name R.E.M. after flipping randomly through the dictionary. Around the same time, the band met Jefferson Holt, who became their manager after witnessing the group's first out-of-state concert in North Carolina. Eventually, the band members dropped out of school to concentrate on their musical career.
Over the next year and a half, R.E.M. toured throughout the South, playing a variety of garage rock covers and folk-rock originals. At the time, the band was still learning how to play, as Buck began to develop his distinctive, arpeggiated jangle and Stipe ironed out his cryptic lyrics. During the summer of 1981, R.E.M. recorded their first single, "Radio Free Europe", at Mitch Easter's Drive-In Studios. Released on the local indie label Hib-Tone, "Radio Free Europe" was pressed in a run of only 1,000 copies. The single became a hit on college radio and topped the Village Voice's year-end poll of Best Independent Singles. Their country/folk sound was contradicted by a driving bassline and an urgency that suggested The Who in their early mod phase. Paired with the distinctive voice of Stipe and his inaudible and indecipherable lyrics, R.E.M.'s sound was unique in the post-punk era of the early 1980s.

Black Sabbath - Reunion - Live
Important notes about
Influences:
Black Sabbath had a unique sound that emerged from diverse influences. Tony Iommi was greatly influenced both by Hank Marvin's playing on Cliff Richard and the Shadows' heavy-guitar based recordings and by jazz guitar, particularly that of Django Reinhardt. Bill Ward has also expressed a fondness for jazz music in general, and for drummer Buddy Rich especially; this jazz influence may be heard on some of Ward's playing with Black Sabbath. Early incarnations of Black Sabbath merged elements of blues, jazz, and rock and paid their dues playing cover versions of songs by heavy rock acts including Jimi Hendrix, Blue Cheer, and Cream. Ozzy Osbourne says he was deeply influenced by the Beatles and his favorite album of all time is Revolver.

Weezer - Maladroit
Maladroit is the fourth album by Weezer. It was released on May 14, 2002 (see 2002 in music) and was the first Weezer album to stray from the 10 song per album "tradition". Maladroitheavy metal riffs and guitar solos, features uncommon to Weezer's previous releases. It was also the first Weezer album to include lyrics in the booklet. Maladroit is Weezer's first album with band member Scott Shriner. While Maladroit has many supporters, some Weezer fans dislike the direction that the band took with this album. features
As of October 2005, the album had sold 590,718 copies in the United States, having reached a high of #3 on the Billboard 200 and quickly going gold. Yet it dropped quickly off the charts and is the band's least successful album.

Weezer - Green Album

Short bio:
Weezer is an American rock band. Formed on February 14, 1992, they have released five full length albums, two EPs, a DVD, and a two-disc set, deluxe remastered edition of their debut album with the addition of b-sides and imports. Their latest album, entitled Make Believe, was released on May 10, 2005. They have sold over 7 million records to date.
Weezer, often referred to as The Green Album, is a 2001 album by the band Weezer. The album was seen as a rebirth for Weezer, following a 5-year hiatus since their 1996 album, Pinkerton, which was initially a commercial failure, but later gained much popularity among both fans and critics.
Fans of the band generally have varying opinions about whether or not the songwriting and short disc length of this recording are a step backward from Pinkerton, which enjoyed belated critical acclaim, and is considered to be the band's most complex album. The Green Album brought Weezer renewed critical and commercial success, with the singles "Hash Pipe" and "Island in the Sun" receiving heavy airplay.
The Green Album also was the band's first release without longtime bassist Matt Sharp, who would end up suing the band before the release of their fourth album, Maladroit, seeking compensation and songwriting credit for songs such as "Undone (The Sweater Song)," "El Scorcho" and "The Good Life". The new lineup for The Green Album consisted of:
* Rivers Cuomo — vocals, guitar
* Brian Bell — backing vocals, guitar
* Mikey Welsh — bass
* Patrick Wilson — drums
As of October 2005, the album had sold 1,549,531 copies. It is currently certified platinum. The Green Album entered and peaked in the U.S. charts at #4, making it Weezer's first Top 10 album.

Johnny Cash Greatest Hits: Best of the Best Gold

Important Notes:
American Recordings
His career was rejuvenated in the 1990s. In 1993, he sang the vocal on U2's "The Wanderer" for their album Zooropa. Although he was no longer sought after by major labels, Cash was approached by producer Rick Rubin and offered a contract with Rubin's American Recordings label, better known for rap and hard rock than for country music. Under Rubin's supervision, he recorded the album American Recordings (1994) in his living room, accompanied only by his guitar. The video for the first single, the traditional song "Delia's Gone," was put into rotation on MTV, including a spot on Beavis and Butt-head. The album was hailed by critics and many declared it to be Cash's finest album since the late 1960s, while his versions of songs by more modern artists such as heavy metal band Danzig and Tom Waits helped to bring him a new audience. American Recordings received a Grammy for Contemporary Folk Album of the Year at the 1994 Grammy Awards. Cash wrote that his reception at the 1994 Glastonbury Festival was one of the highlights of his career. This was the beginning of a decade of music industry accolades and surprising commercial success. In addition to this, Cash and his wife appeared on a number of episodes of the popular television series Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman starring Jane Seymour. The actress thought so highly of Cash that she later named one of her twin sons after him.
For his second album with Rubin, 1996's Unchained, Cash enlisted the accompaniment of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. In addition to many of Cash's own compositions, Unchained contained songs by Soundgarden ("Rusty Cage") and Beck ("Rowboat"), as well as a guest appearance from Flea, bassist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The album also included a cover of a classic 1962 Hank Snow song called "I've Been Everywhere." Despite being virtually ignored by country music radio and the Nashville establishment, Unchained received a Grammy for Best Country Album. Cash and Rubin bought a full-page ad in Billboard magazine sarcastically thanking the country music industry for its continued support, accompanied by a picture of Cash displaying his middle finger.

The Cranberries - Bury the Hatchet

Bury the Hatchet was the fourth album by The Cranberries, released in 1999. All lyrics are by Dolores O'Riordan, and all music are by Noel Hogan and Dolores O'Riordan except tracks 3, 8, 10 and 13, which are by Dolores O'Riordan.
Origins
Noel and Mike Hogan, two brothers from Limerick, formed the band with drummer Fergal Lawler in 1990. The band was originally named The Cranberry Saw Us, a pun on cranberry sauce. The lead singer at that time was a friend of theirs called Niall Quinn, who had an extravagant taste for composing and song names, such as "My Grandma drowned in a fountain in Lourdes", "I was always all ways" and "Drop me down a big stair". When he left the band,Dolores O'Riordan, who was a friend of Niall's girlfriend at the time, auditioned and won the role of lead singer, writing the lyrics for "Linger". Her voice, which ranges from keening, to powerful to lilting, is the distinctive element of the band's sound.
Their homemade demo tape did well locally, and the band soon recorded a demo tape that earned much popular and critical interest. After a major-label bidding war, The Cranberries signed with Island Records. After an unsuccessful first single, they ditched their manager. Their second single, "Linger," and debut album, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?, became a huge hit first in the United States and later in the United Kingdom. The single "Dreams" also became a hit, reaching #14 on the US charts.

Ryan Adams - 29
29 is Ryan Adams' eighth official album, and his third album to be released in 2005.
The album was produced by Ethan Johns, who also produced Heartbreaker and Gold. Recorded without the country-rock sound of the Cardinals, this album's sonic and emotional predecessor is 2003's Love Is Hell.
In a pre-release interview, Adams described the album: "That one's really fucked up. It has nine songs, and all the songs are nine minutes long, they're all story-songs. And it's basically just me and a piano, me and a guitar, with [producer] Ethan [Johns]. It's really cerebral. The theme of it was that I wanted to write a record where I could write myself out of my twenties. So for each year of my life, in my twenties, I kind of assigned different parts of my character, I gave them names. The last song is a song from the perspective, believe it or not, of a ghost. When it's just passed out of a body, and it goes 'Don't go to the light/ I'll show you how to haunt.' This spirit is trying to conjure this dead child, this dead person, back to the house where they died. So they can haunt it. It's really fucked up."
In fact, the songs are not all nine minutes long; they average around four and a half minutes in length. Two tracks are shorter than four minutes, and the longest, "Strawberry Wine," clocks in just under eight minutes.link for this album

Tom Waits - Real Gone
Real Gone is an album by Tom Waits, released October 3, 2004 in Europe, and October 5 in USA2004 in
music) on Epitaph Records
The album was supported by the Real Gone Tour, playing a few sold out locations in North America and Europe in October and November 2004.
Thomas Alan Waits (born December 7, 1949) is an American singer-songwriter, composer, and actor.
Waits has a very distinctive voice, described by the MusicHound Rock Album Guide as sounding "like it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months and then taken outside and run over with a car." (Waits's voice was also described in one court decision as follows: "Waits has a raspy, gravelly singing voice, described by one fan as ‘like how you'd sound if you drank a quart of bourbon, smoked a pack of cigarettes and swallowed a pack of razor blades. . . . Late at night. After not sleeping for three days.’" Waits v. Frito-Lay, Inc., 978 F.2d 1093 (1992 9th Cir.)) With this trademark growl, as well as his experimental tendencies and a love of pre-rock Americana styles such as blues, jazz, and Vaudeville, Waits has built up a distinctive musical persona. Trouser Press called Waits "at once a throwback and a visionary."Link,Tracklist in comment

Supertramp - Crime of the Century
Monday, February 27, 2006
Crime of the Century is the third album by progressive rock band Supertramp, released in 1974 (see 1974 in music).
Crime of the Century was Supertramp's first album with its classic lineup and co-producer Ken Scott.
The album was recorded at a number of studios including Ramport Studios (owned by The Who) and Trident Studios.
Many of the songs on the album are still staples of the band's shows ("School", "Bloody Well Right", "Rudy" and the title cut). Almost all of the album appears on the band's 1980 live album Paris although the tracks which featured orchestrations on the original Crime album ("Asylum", "Rudy", and "Crime of the Century") were replaced by string synthesizers or Oberheim synthesizers which were played mainly by John Helliwell with some help from Roger Hodgson.

Nazareth - The Very Best Of
Nazareth is an earthy, and versatile Scottish rock band that had several hard rock hits, as well as scoring
with the Felice and Boudleaux Bryant ballad "Love Hurts" in the 1970s.
Nazareth was formed in 1968 in Dunfermline, Scotland, by vocalist Dan McCafferty, guitarist Manny Charlton, bassist Pete Agnew, and drummer Darrell Sweet. The band moved to London, England in 1970, and released their self-titled debut album in 1971. After getting some attention with their second album Exercises, released in 1972, Nazareth issued Razamanaz in early 1973. This collection spawned two UK Top Ten hits, "Broken Down Angel" and "Bad Bad Boy." This was followed by Loud 'N' Proud in late 1973, which contained another hit single "This Flight Tonight". Then came another album Rampant, in 1974, that was equally successful.
Nazareth's biggest album, Hair Of The Dog, was released in 1975. The title track of that album (popularly, though incorrectly, known as "Now You're Messing with a Son of a Bitch") became became a staple of 1970s rock radio. The ballad from it "Love Hurts" was released in the UK and in the US, where it went platinum. In addition, the track became the band's only US Top Ten hit. Its other claim to fame is that it spent a record breaking 60 weeks on the Norwegian chart.

Dire Straits - Sultans Of Swing - The Very Best Of
Dire Straits was a British rock band, formed in 1977 by frontman Mark
Knopfler (guitar and vocals), his brother David Knopfler (guitar), John Illsley (bass) and Pick Withers (drums), and managed by Ed Bicknell. Although the band was formed in an era when punk rock reigned, Dire Straits worked within the conventions of "classic" rock, albeit with a stripped-down sound that appealed to modern audiences weary of the overproduced stadium rock of the 1970s. Unusual in their early days in that Mark and David used small low wattage combo amps, allowing pub patrons to converse while the band played. Despite this oddly self-effacing approach to rock and roll, Dire Straits eventually became hugely successful. Because of their unique sound and style some still consider them one of the greatest bands in the genre. (disputed — see talk page)
Their most famous songs include: "Sultans of Swing", "Romeo and Juliet", "Money for Nothing", "Tunnel of Love", "Walk of Life", "So Far Away", "Skateaway" and "Brothers in Arms".

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Platinum
History
The band started out as The Blue Velvets, formed by John Fogerty, Doug Clifford, and Stu Cook in El Cerrito, California in the late 1950s. They were an instrumental trio, however during the early '60's they began backing Tom Fogerty, John's older brother, for school dances at El Cerrito High School, on fraternity house gigs and in the recording studio. By the mid 1960s, the band signed a contract with Fantasy Records which was a local label based in San Francisco at that time. They were attracted to the label because Fantasy had released a national hit by Vince Guaraldi, "Cast Your Fate To The Wind". Fantasy officials changed the group's name to The Golliwogs, an apparent reference to a once-popular minstrel doll called a Golliwogg. Seven singles were released in the San Francisco Bay area, but none received national attention. (However, in 1975 Fantasy released Pre-Creedence, a compilation album of recordings by The Golliwogs).
Eventually John Fogerty took control of the group, writing most of their material and singing lead vocals. The band's first album as Creedence Clearwater Revival was released in 1968. A cover of the Dale Hawkins Swamp Rock classic "Suzie Q." became their first hit single (the song was later featured in the movie Apocalypse Now). As a result, Creedence Clearwater Revival is considered part of that distinctly American Swamp Rock music, exemplified again most prominently in their song "Born On The Bayou".
By 1969, the band really began to find its voice; "Proud Mary" became their second hit single and also was a big hit for Ike and Tina Turner. It was followed by a series of successful songs, including "Bad Moon Rising", "Green River", "Down on the Corner", "Travelin' Band", "Who'll Stop the Rain?", "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?", "Up Around the Bend", "Fortunate Son", and "Lookin' Out My Back Door."
Due to John Fogerty's success as writer, singer, and frontman, the other band members began to feel like they were being held back. His brother Tom left the band in 1971, to pursue an unsuccessful solo career. John Fogerty insisted that bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford share equal songwriting and vocal time on the band's final album Mardi Gras in 1972. Many have speculated that Fogerty did this in anticipation of poor sales, in order to prove to brother Tom (and the rest of world) that his songwriting had always been the real commercial talent behind the band's success. The album did indeed receive poor reviews and sales, and the group disbanded shortly afterwards.
John Fogerty bought himself out of his contract with Fantasy Records and eventually established a successful solo career.
In 1990, Tom Fogerty died of AIDS, which he contracted from a blood transfusion.
CCR was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993. At the induction, Tom Fogerty's widow brought the urn containing his ashes for a CCR "reunion," but John Fogerty would not perform with his fellow bandmates.
Band members Doug Clifford and Stu Cook formed a band in 1995 with other musicians called Creedence Clearwater Revisited. They perform globally, only performing the original band's classics. John Fogerty still has no communications with Cook and Clifford.
Creedence Clearwater Revival was somewhat unfashionable during the time they were active, because they concentrated on tightly-focused, well-crafted singles rather than long, loose album cuts. However within a few years of their breakup their legacy became secure as one of the great American rock bands, and they heavily influenced the entire genre of heartland rock.
Fogerty's songs are considered classics of the rock form and have been covered by countless artists; "Fortunate Son" in particular is revived whenever America goes to war (though its lyrics are clearly anti-war). A new live version of "Fortunate Son" by John Fogerty was recently released as part of his 2005 compilation album The Long Road Home which combines both his Creedence and solo hits.

Deep Purple - Live In Japan- (UK) [3 Disc Box Set]
Pre-History
The band Episode Six released several singles in the UK during the mid-sixties. It featured Ian Gillan on vocals, Graham Dimmock on guitar, Roger Glover on bass, Tony Lander on guitar, Sheila Carter on keyboards, and Harvey Shields on the drums. Despite extensive touring, they never had their big break.
In 1967, a band called The Flowerpot Men and their Garden was formed, formerly known as The Ivy League. It was concentrated on a trio of singers. The new name was clearly derived from the children's show The Flowerpot Men, with the obvious psychedelic-era puns on flower power and "pot". The band's most popular song was "Let's Go To San Francisco." Some listeners assumed that the song was a parody of Scott McKenzie's "If You're Going to San Francisco," but the band has denied this. It featured Tony Burrows, Neil Landon, Robin Shaw, and Pete Nelson on vocals Ged Peck on guitar, Nick Simper on bass, Jon Lord on organ, and Carlo Little on drums. Jon Lord had formerly played in The Artwoods, Nick Simper had been with Screaming Lord Sutch's The Savages, where he also played with guitarist Ritchie Blackmore

Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks
Blood on the Tracks is a 1975 album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan. In September 1974, Dylan entered the studio with a clutch of newly written songs, many inspired by his recent estrangement from his wife of ten years, Sara Lownds Dylan.
All ten songs on the album were originally recorded at New York City sessions produced by Phil Ramone. With Columbia set to release the LP, Dylan pulled back at the last minute, and at year's end re-recorded five of the ten songs in Minneapolis with a crew of area session musicians assembled by his brother, David Zimmerman. Dylan's fans theorize endlessly about his reasons for revamping the album, but the most likely reason (and the simplest) is that the musical feel of the album was monotonous, with too many songs in the same key and the same languid rhythm.
Told of the album's lasting popularity, Dylan was later to say: "A lot of people tell me they enjoy that album. It's hard for me to relate to that. I mean, it, you know, people enjoying the type of pain, you know?"
Blood on the Tracks was a #1 Pop Album on the Billboard Music Charts and reached #4 in the UK. The single "Tangled up in Blue" peaked at #31 on the Pop singles chart. The album remains one of Dylan's all-time best-selling studio releases, with a double-platinum US certification to date. It is also one of his most critically-lauded.
In Dylan's 2004 memoir, Chronicles, Vol. 1, he claims that although one album of his songs was entirely inspired by short stories by Anton Chekhov, many of his fans and critics treat it as autobiographical. This passage is often cited as a reference to Blood On The Tracks.

TRACK A TIGER

A new band from Chicago, Illinois United States
[Modern Music Review]
First excited to download and listen them.I like to explore new music and new tastes. When I first listen ''Sound as ever'' that makes me think indie or alternative country in the same home? After no I guess. Then I remembered that rule;you shouldn't put music in a cage, and shouln't categorize them. You should stay with what you took from the music. And this guys make me feel these things with their good music.
''Sound as ever'' has a hidden melody,You find it and wanna follow it till the end of the song. After this good experince about their music,I opened another door which leads their song ''Glad To Be Scattered''.And I drank my coffee(not hard one:) with this song. And Started walk to the exit with their song ''Seashaken Heart''.I think it was their best work. The song talked with me and say I have song of sorrow and you have the man of sorrow. And Feeling good for knowing their music.
You can say lots of things about music but sometimes you should prefer not to talk only dream dream and dream while listening...That's life, that's music.Lets learn more about them:
Download:
“Woke up early the day I died” is a collection of songs Jim Vallet recorded under the name Track a Tiger. The project began in August in 2003 after sifting through some old 4-track tapes and a notebook with a few song ideas. A 16-track digital recorder and a few microphones were bought and recording began in his Chicago apartment (listen close for a cat, squeaky wood floors and occasional late night drunken lover’s quarrel on the street below).
The songs started with acoustic guitar and then were slowly worked over a two-year period. Keyboards, guitars, banjo, cello, female harmonies and other assorted blips and bleeps were added. Jim Viner, an old friend back from their days in the Iowa City band Head Candy, (Link/Elektra), added drums to seven tracks.
Deciding the project needed an ending point, time was booked in June 2005 at Paul Oldham’s Rove Studio in rural Shelbyville, Kentucky. Although happy with the mixes, it was decided some of the songs weren’t quite done. A few more lyrics were written, additional harmonies added, and the result was mixed and mastered by Pat Stolley at futureappletree Studio 1 in Rock Island, Illinois.
The sound? Moody. Lots of male-female harmonies. A little rock, but mostly slow, sad, sleepy late nights.
Track a Tiger is now a full time band and the songs are starting to evolve with the new lineup. The sound is a little heavier and atmospheric with some extended jams. Maybe Richard and Linda Thompson and the Sea and Cake having drinks in the living room while Low and Sonic Youth make dinner in the kitchen. Fleetwood Mac is out getting more ice.
The CD will be released February 28 and available at Future Appletree, CD Baby, iTunes, and local indie record stores (Carrot Top Distribution)

Johnny Cash - Everybody Loves A Nut (1966)
Sunday, February 26, 2006
Supposedly at odds with this country artist's image as the somber
Man in Black, this collection of humorous songs actually isn't that much of a departure for Johnny Cash. Listeners who may have grown up during his days as a Top Ten artist will recall his steady stream of singles that always seemed to have a clever gimmick or catchy twist; why, some of those aren't even on this collection, meaning there ought to be a second volume! More than three decades later, Cash would release concept CDs collecting songs based around particular themes -- Love, God, and Murder -- so perhaps this album is a thematic link, or a theme he could return to. The songs are just basically nutty. If one could imagine a project combining Cash with the cartoon character Screwy Squirrel, then this would be it, meaning not all the material is in good taste all the time. There are some real choice roasted nuts here, especially the duet with Ramblin' Jack Elliot, in which for once it is OK that the performers get drunk while playing. There is no credit for Elliot in the original liner notes. Some of these songs were favorites of Cash, including "Dirty Old Egg Sucking Dog," which, as a highlight of his career, he performed on The Muppet Show. Cash's sense of humor is really great, and although he certainly makes brilliant music when totally in a dark mood, there is something to be said for a project like this, where he gives free rein to that side of his personality that has always made him popular with children, for example. And incidentally, this album has proven to be a very popular item with younger listeners. Cash's romping, stomping buddy Jack Clement actually has a large hand in the proceedings, although one has to read the fine print on the label to know it. He wrote practically all the best songs, except for the hilarious "Please Don't Play Red River Valley," which is a request from the Man in Black himself.

The Highwaymen - Highwayman

Before rock & roll gave listeners the Traveling Wilburys, country music spawned the Highwaymen, a super group of mythic proportions that featured living legends Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson. The foursome had worked together in various combinations over the years, but teamed up under the Highwaymen umbrella in 1985. Their first single together, "Highwayman," topped the country charts that year and spawned an album of the same name on Columbia. The album also proved mightily popular, hitting number one on the country listings and producing a Top 20 follow-up single in a cover of Guy Clark's "Desperadoes Waiting for a Train." Afterward, the members returned to their individual careers for a few years, but reconvened in 1990 to record a sequel, Highwayman 2. It reached number four on the country album charts and spun off the minor hit "Silver Stallion," but didn't cause quite the same stir overall as its predecessor. Another layoff followed, and when the Highwaymen returned for a third outing in 1995, they inked a new deal with Liberty/Capitol. The Road Goes on Forever was produced by Don Was, but proved a distinct commercial disappointment, and the group did not record again prior to Jennings' death in 2002. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide.

Eels - With Strings: Live at Town Hall (2006)

Eels with Strings: Live at Town Hall is a live album released on CD and DVD on February 21, 2006. The recording is from New York City's Town Hall, June 30, 2005. It is the first live Eels album with a general release, and the first Eels DVD.
Creative restlessness is not often rewarded in the arts marketplace; we want to know that you're the woman who does those paintings of pixies, or that gritty pop-punk act who sings songs about how parents really suck. And when we go to see you perform live, you better play your song like we heard it on the radio, the same way it sounds in our heads. Right? Eels leader Mark Oliver Everett, aka E, does not fit this profile in the slightest. He notoriously tours with wildly different variations on his perpetually mopey, low-key Eels. This disc captures E in a performance from his "With Strings" tour, playing a career-spanning sampler with a few covers while backed by two multi-instrumentalists and a string quartet. E's gruff Care Bear voice almost-soars atop ingenious and sparse arrangements throughout: strings, xylophone and singing saw on "Bus Stop Boxer"; bass, piano and strings on "Losing Streak." The only sore spot is how similarly-paced the twenty-two songs are, though fans will have no problem with that.

Minutemen - Discography
History
They originally called themselves The Reactionaries, with additional band member and singer Martin Tamburovich. According to Watt, the name came from a Mao Tse-Tung quote about how all reactionaries are actually "paper tigers".
After the Reactionaries disbanded, Boon and Watt formed The Minutemen in January of 1980; the band's name was derived partly because of the fabled minutemen militia of colonial times, partly because of the fact that many of their earlier songs lasted a minute or less, and partly to take the name back from a right-wing reactionary group of the 1960s that used to harass figures like Angela Davis through the mail. After a month with no drummer — during which Boon and Watt wrote their first batch of tunes, the band rehearsed and played a couple of early gigs with local welder Frank Tonche on drums. The group originally wanted George Hurley to join, but he had joined a new wave band called Hey Taxi after the Reactionaries disbanded. Tonche quit the group, citing a dislike of the audience the band initially drew, and Hurley took over the drum seat in June of 1980. (Rehearsal recordings with Tonche on drums later appeared as the posthumous EP Georgeless in 1987.)
Greg Ginn of Black Flag and SST Records produced the Minutemen's first 7" EP, Paranoid Time, which solidified their eclectic style. At first, they completely avoided guitar solos, choruses, and fade-outs. Later, they were known for hybridizing punk rock with forms of jazz, funk, acid rock, and R&B in novel ways, perhaps best exemplified on 1984's double-album, Double Nickels on the Dime. Though still somewhat obscure to mainstream audiences, Double Nickels has been cited as one of the more innovative and enduring albums of the 1980s American rock underground. On Double Nickels, they co-wrote some songs with other musicians, notably Henry Rollins, Chuck Dukowski and Joe Baiza.
The group's early recordings (up until their 1985 12" EP Project: Mersh) were recorded as "econo" (Pedro slang for inexpensive, short for "economic") as possible - the group would book studio time after midnight at cut rates, rehearse the songs prior to going into the studio, record on less expensive used tape, and record the songs in the order they intended to have them on the record rather than waste time editing the master tape during the sequencing phase. In fact, contrary to standard practice even in indie rock, the Minutemen saw records as a way to promote their tours, not the other way around.
The Minutemen toured frequently, but usually for only a few weeks at a time--they all held down day jobs. Their "econo" practices helped ensure that their tours were always profitable, unlike some of their SST peers.
Several Minutemen album sleeves and covers, such as the Paranoid Time EP and What Makes a Man Start Fires? LP and the inner gatefold jacket for Double Nickels, feature drawings by noted artist Raymond Pettibon, who was at the time associated with the SST label, providing sleeves for Black Flag. Other album covers, like on The Punch Line and 3-Way Tie (For Last), featured paintings by D. Boon.
Following Boon's death, Watt and Hurley originally intended to quit music altogether. But encouraged by Minutmen fan Ed Crawford, they formed fIREHOSE and have had solo projects since the Minutemen disbanded.
Watt has done three acclaimed solo albums, toured briefly as a member of Porno for Pyros in 1996 and J Mascis and The Fog in 2000 and 2001, and became the bassist for the reformed Iggy Pop & The Stooges in 2003. George Hurley has produced work with Vida, Mayo Thompson and Red Crayola, further indulging the free-form and off-the-wall leanings showcased on Double Nickels.

Johnny Cash - American V

American V, the last batch of songs Johnny Cash recorded with his unlikely collaborator and soul mate, producer Rick Rubin.
The songs Cash sings are, unsurprisingly, confessional and reflective: his mortality and his mistakes, his maker and his salvation, and the loss of his wife June and the end of his career may have weighed on his mind, but in these songs he both embodies and transcends his personal history.

Supergrass - Life On Other Planets
If the title of Supergrass's new album is anything to go by, the band have been on a very long journey in the three years since their last eponymous offering. But Life On Other Planets sees sideburned Gaz Coombes and his cheeky, happy-go-lucky mates on the exuberant form which first won them fans and critical acclaim seven years ago - a long time in the fickle music business.
On the face of it, Supergrass are sort of lads who haven't a care in the world and would be great drinking partners and reliable mates - which comes out in their music. No-one can forget their biggest hit Alright, which celebrated all the best bits of lad culture and was joyously without any of its nasty underbelly.

Ozzy Osbourne - Prince Of Darkness [Box set]

Prince of Darkness is a box set of four CDs by Ozzy Osbourne released in 2005. The first two CDs are Osbourne's solo work, and the last two CDs are duets and cover songs.
Recent news
In 2002, Osbourne and wife Sharon were invited to the White House by president George W. Bush for a ceremonial dinner. Bush praised Osbourne for his work on The Osbournes.
During 2003, a member of Birmingham City Council campaigned for him to be given Freedom of the City.
On December 8, 2003, Osbourne was rushed into emergency surgery when he was involved in an accident involving the use of his all-terrain vehicle on his estate in Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire, UK. Osbourne broke his collar bone, eight ribs, and a neck vertebra. An operation was performed to lift the collarbone, which was believed to be resting on a major artery and interrupting blood flow to the arm. Sharon later revealed that Osbourne had stopped breathing following the crash and was resuscitated by Osbourne's then personal bodyguard, Sam Ruston.
While in the hospital, Osbourne achieved his first ever UK number one single, a duet of the Tony Iommi-penned Black Sabbath classic "Changes" with daughter Kelly. In doing so, he broke the record of the longest period between an artist's first UK chart appearance (with Black Sabbath's, "Paranoid", number four in August 1970) and their first number one hit; a gap of 33 years.
Since the accident, he has fully recovered and headlined the 2004 Ozzfest, where he again reunited with Black Sabbath. He has also turned his hand to writing a Broadway musical. The reputed topic is that of the Russian monk Grigory Rasputin, who held sway with Russia's last royal Romanov family. In 2005, he released a box set called Prince of Darkness. It contains four long-awaited discs, the first and second discs are collections of live performances, B-sides, demos and singles. The third disc contained duets and other odd tracks with other artists, including "Born to Be Wild" with Miss Piggy. The fourth disc is entirely new material where Ozzy covers his favorite songs by his biggest influences and favorite bands, including The Beatles, John Lennon, David Bowie and others.
